The PYO Music Institute Summer String Camp offers a dynamic and enriching musical experience for young string players – from those with at least one year of experience to advanced-level students looking to sharpen their skills over the summer.
Who Can Enroll:
Students should be actively taking private lessons and able to play a one-octave scale along with a piece from Suzuki Book 1 or equivalent.
Designed to inspire growth, confidence, and a love of ensemble playing, the camp features a wide variety of activities, including:
• String ensemble rehearsals that build teamwork and musicality
• Instrument-specific scale and technique classes
• Weekly group concerts showcasing all campers
• Daily opportunities for students to perform solos in a supportive environment
• Violin-to-viola workshops for those interested in exploring a new clef
• Audition preparation seminars to boost confidence for future opportunities
• Fun sight-reading challenges to develop quick-thinking musical skills
• Creative musical arts & crafts, games, and more
Of course, no camp experience is complete without time to relax and connect – students enjoy daily lunch and snack breaks, along with plenty of social time to make new friends who share their passion for music.
Whether students are looking to stay sharp over the summer, prepare for auditions, or simply enjoy making music with peers, this camp provides the perfect balance of learning, performance, and fun!
Students can participate in either week one or week two separately, or both weeks.

“At the PYO Music Institute Summer String Camp, our experienced professional faculty members are able to meet each individual student at the unique point of their musical journey and foster their love of music while building individual skills and creating confidence. Summer programs are places where magical things can happen, and through community music making, we strive to provide that opportunity for each student.”
