PYO Music Institute is proud to announce our 84th Anniversary Season! Get ready for a spectacular lineup of talent and music, featuring seven concerts at The Kimmel Center for Performing Arts, four fantastic guest soloists, one student soloist, and 17 more performances across the greater Philadelphia region you won’t want to miss.
This season, we have the privilege of hosting three guest soloists from The Philadelphia Orchestra.
Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No. 2 with Richard Amoroso
The Philadelphia Youth Orchestra (PYO), our flagship ensemble, will be joined by the incredible violinist and PYO alumnus, Richard Amoroso, to perform Prokofiev’s stunning Violin Concerto No. 2 on Sunday, March 3rd at 3:00pm in Verizon Hall. Get ready for an unforgettable performance that will leave you on the edge of your seat.
PYO’s 84th Annual Festival Concert: Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante with William Polk and Kerri Ryan
In another mesmerizing concert, PYO will conclude the season with Mozart’s enchanting Sinfonia Concertante, featuring two guest soloists, William Polk on violin and PYO Alumna Kerri Ryan on viola. Their combined talent with PYO will transport you to the heart of classical elegance. Join us for this special final performance of the season on Sunday, June 2nd at 7:00pm in Verizon Hall.
Michael Ludwig Returns to Perform with PYO at PYOMI’s 2024 Annual Gala
This year’s featured guest soloist at the PYO Music Institute’s Annual Gala will be violinist Michael Ludwig, accompanied by the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra. Join us at the Union League of Philadelphia on Friday, March 22nd at 6:00pm for a night of dining, dancing, and delighting in the music of our talented young musicians. PYAO 10th Annual Young Artists Solo Competition
In addition, we will have a special solo performance by the winner of the Philadelphia Young Artists Orchestra’s 10th Annual Young Artists Solo Competition, showcasing the incredible talent and dedication of the young musicians of PYAO. A winner, first runner-up, second runner-up, and honorable mention will be announced in the winter, and the winner will perform alongside PYAO in their 29th Annual Festival Concert on June 2nd at 3:00pm in Perelman Theater.
PYOMI Performs Across the Greater Philadelphia Region
All nine program divisions perform across the greater Philadelphia region. The Young Musicians Debut Orchestra, Philadelphia Youth Symphonic Band, Philadelphia Youth Jazz Orchestra, Bravo Brass, and Tune Up Philly, PYOMI’s after-school music education program, all have exciting performances lined up at the historic Temple Performing Arts Center this season. Bravo Brass will also have two performances at St. Mark’s Church (Philadelphia, PA), and two performances at St. Mary’s Church (Burlington, NJ). And last but not least, Prysm Strings will have two performances at their Bryn Mawr home, Church of the Redeemer.
