Salvatore Parillo
Development Manager
Serving nearly 10 years as an arts administrator for classical music, Sal loves seeing the rewarding impact that music can have on the lives of all participants, whether it be the performers, audience members, or students.
Prior to joining the PYO Music Institute, Sal served as the Operations Manager for the Virginia Symphony Orchestra (Norfolk, VA) and the Education & Operations Manager for the Lansing Symphony Orchestra (Lansing, MI). For the past 9 years he has also served as the Associate Director of Artistic Operations with the Philadelphia International Music Festival (PIMF), featuring members of The Philadelphia Orchestra.
Sal’s passion for music education began to take root when he was invited to join the PIMF staff almost a decade ago. This passion was further developed through his orchestral experiences in the Education Department at the Lansing Symphony Orchestra, where he helped to grow and foster new and existing education and outreach programs with the LSO. These experiences strengthened Sal’s determination to contribute to the world of music education by focusing the majority of his time, energy and passion therein.
Sal is a born-and-raised Floridian, who holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Flute Performance from the University of Central Florida and a Master of Arts degree in Arts and Cultural Management from Michigan State University. In his free time, he enjoys the company of his two cats, anything nature related, cooking, and travelling (especially to upstate NY where all of his family is from/resides).
