Pizzicato Players - PYO Music Institute

Pizzicato Players is a unique plucked string ensemble where students develop ensemble skills, technical proficiency, and musicianship in an acoustically favorable setting, exploring both classical and contemporary music.

Location: St. Patrick Church Hall (240 S. 20th St, Philadelphia, PA)

Schedule: Wednesdays, every other week, 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Open to: Classical/acoustic guitar, acoustic bass, harp, mandolin, ukulele, banjo, and Baroque plucked strings (lute, theorbo)

Ages: 6 – 18

Auditions & Enrollment

Audition Requirements:

  1. One solo piece or two contrasting etudes
  2. Demonstration of scales, major and minor chord shapes
  3. Sight-reading fundamentals
  4. Students must provide their own instruments and be comfortable tuning their own instruments

  • Belafonte, Fleetwood Mac, and Vivaldi
