Now Accepting 2024-2025 Audition Applications

Audition Dates:
Saturday, September 7, 2024, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Sunday, September 8, 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Young Musicians Debut Orchestra auditions are open to student string, woodwind, brass, and percussion players. The Young Musicians Debut Orchestra (YMDO) accepts students ages 11 through 17.

YMDO rehearsals take place on Saturdays from 1:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., mid-September through late-May, at Saint Patrick Hall (240 South 20th St, Philadelphia, PA 19103).

Audition Requirements

Performers will be asked to play 1) required scales, 2) their own selection from the solo repertoire, and 3) required orchestral excerpts. Please see below for specific requirements for each instrument.

The applicant and/or parent/guardian agree that all decisions concerning placement and participation in the YMDO program are at the sole discretion of the artistic staff, and that their decisions are final.

Annual YMDO tuition for the 2024-2025 season is $1,795. A non-refundable deposit of $550 is due at the time an accepted student registers for the PYO Music Institute. Tuition balance is due by the first rehearsal of the concert season.
