At PYOMI, giving equals making a lasting investment in music education, young musicians, their upward economic mobility, and a shared cultural future for the region. PYOMI’s planned and tax‑advantaged giving options offer meaningful ways to support our mission while aligning with your financial and philanthropic goals.
Whether you are considering a gift today or planning for future support, the options below provide flexible, impactful ways to make an even greater difference:
Gifts of Appreciated Stocks or Securities
Donating appreciated securities is a powerful way to support PYOMI while avoiding capital gains tax. When you transfer stock directly, PYOMI receives the full value of the gift, allowing your philanthropy to go further.
Note: This option is often ideal for donors holding long‑term investments and can be arranged easily through your financial advisor or brokerage firm.
Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs)
Recommend a grant to PYOMI through your Donor‑Advised Fund, today.
Note: DAF gifts provide flexibility, simplicity, and steady support for music education while allowing you to plan your philanthropy over time.
Legal Name: Philadelphia Youth Orchestra
Tax ID: 23‑6392235
IRA Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs)
Supporters age 70½ or older may transfer up to $100,000 annually from an IRA directly to PYOMI through a Qualified Charitable Distribution. These gifts are excluded from taxable income and, for donors age 73 and older, may also count toward Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs).
Note: QCDs offer a tax‑efficient way to support PYOMI while meeting retirement planning goals. PYOMI may also be named as a beneficiary of your IRA, a simple step that can have a powerful long‑term impact.
Pennsylvania Tax Credit Giving
Eligible donors (and corporations) may support PYOMI through Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit program and receive up to 90% in state tax credits for a qualifying 2-year gift. EITC gifts directly support access to high‑quality music education for students in our Tune Up Philly program.
Note: These unique opportunities are subject to availability and timing.

Sponsored Chair Program (Leadership Giving)
Sponsored Chairs of Philadelphia Youth Orchestra
PYOMI proudly maintains a long‑standing commitment: no qualified student is ever turned away because of financial need. The Sponsored Chair Program is a distinctive way for individuals, families, and organizations to help sustain that promise while directly supporting excellence in our flagship Philadelphia Youth Orchestra.
By sponsoring a designated orchestra chair through a five‑year commitment (made via: cash gift, stock or appreciated security transfer, DAF, QCD, or 10% of Tax Credit support), you provide essential support for financial aid and tuition remission, ensuring that talent and dedication are the only barriers to participation.
All Sponsored Chair gifts are preserved in PYOMI’s Board Designated Fund, supporting access, equity, and excellence in perpetuity.
