New program expands access to high-quality string education for young musicians in Philadelphia.
PYO Music Institute is pleased to announce the launch of Prysm Strings – Center City, its newest ensemble program for young violin, viola, cello, and double bass players ages 6 to 15.
Prysm Strings – Center City expands the reach of PYOMI’s renowned Prysm Strings program, led by Prysm Strings Director Gloria dePasquale. It joins Prysm Strings – Main Line, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary season, and Prysm Strings – New Jersey, providing families throughout the region with greater access to exceptional string education and performance opportunities.
Based at PYO Music Institute’s home at The Walter Garrison Center, 240 South 20th Street in Philadelphia, Prysm Strings – Center City will provide students with exceptional ensemble training, individualized instruction, and performance opportunities. Students will rehearse side by side with professional faculty in a supportive environment designed to strengthen technique, musicianship, confidence, and collaboration.

Prysm Strings – Center City will be led by Andrea Weber, Director and Conductor, with Gia Angelo serving as Associate Conductor and upper strings faculty. The faculty also includes violinists Jim Wilson and Alex Link and violist Nina Wilkinson.

The program will meet on Wednesdays from mid-September through mid-May. Participants will also have opportunities to showcase their talents in major performances across Philadelphia, including at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts.
Auditions for the 2026–2027 season will take place on Wednesday, September 16, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at PYO Music Institute, located at 240 South 20th Street in Philadelphia.
