PYMO
3rd Annual Festival Concert
May 25th

The Third Annual Festival Concert presented by The Philadelphia Young Musicians Orchestra (PYMO) will take place on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 4 p.m. This free concert will take place at the Temple Performing Arts Center, located at 1837 North Broad Street in Philadelphia, PA.

Conducted by PYMO Director Kenneth Bean and Associate Director, Rachel Segal, PYMO will perform Mozart’s Overture to The Abduction from the Seraglio, Schubert’s Sixth Symphony, Night on Bald Mountain by Moussorgsky / Simpson, and Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance.

PYMO is the newest educational offering of the PYO Music Institute (PYO) organization, created for students 10 to 17 years of age. It is a beginning to intermediate-level full symphonic orchestra that provides most students with their first introduction to large orchestral playing. While its players matriculate from other programs like PYO’s PRYSM and Tune Up Philly, PYMO is often the first full orchestral playing experience for many wind, brass, and percussion students. Through a challenging repertoire including both arrangements and original masterworks, students hone their talents for listening, blending, balancing, and making music within the full orchestral context. Principal players are also encouraged to develop leadership skills, and less-experienced players learn from their peers and PYO's acclaimed professional faculty.

PYMO meets the needs of young musicians who have interest in performing in an orchestra setting. Kenneth Bean is proud of the growth of his students and the enthusiasm they display about the music as well as the opportunity to perform together.  He said, “The gifted musicians in PYMO always display a strong commitment to classical music and performing in the orchestra with their peers. I’m impressed by their passion and dedication and know they wait eagerly for this performance after extensive preparation.”
