PRYSM - 12th Annual Festival Concert - May 11th

PRYSM and PRYSM Young Artists ensembles provide string large ensemble and sectional master class instruction for beginning and intermediate musicians ages 6-14. The director and conductor of PRYSM is Gloria DePasquale, cellist with The Philadelphia Orchestra, and conductor of PRYSM Young Artists is Andrea Weber. PRYSM was created in 2007 to offer a unique introduction and preparation for string students to acquire and build skills. PRYSM and PRYSM Young Artists provide string ensemble and sectional master class instruction for intermediate and beginning students in and around the Main Line, with rehearsals hosted at Bryn Mawr College. Graduates of PRYSM have matriculated successfully into other PYO organization ensembles. It was co-founded by the late William dePasquale, Co-Concertmaster of The Philadelphia Orchestra and current Director, Gloria dePasquale.

PYO Announces Winners of the Third Annual Young Composers Competition

For the third year, The PYO Music Institute (PYO) conducted a nationwide search to name the three winners in the PYO Young Composers Competition. All participants submitted original orchestral scores. The winners were selected by PYO’s music director, Maestro Louis Scaglione, and the director of the Young Composers Competition, Sheridan Seyfried, who is a Philadelphia-based composer, a PYO alumnus and a graduate of The Curtis Institute of Music where he studied with Richard Danielpour, Jennifer Higdon and Ned Rorem.

PYO Presents the 2019 Showcase Concert on March 24

The highly acclaimed PYO Music Institute (PYO), now in it’s 79th season, will showcase all six program ensemble divisions on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at 3 p.m. in Verizon Hall of The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. WRTI 90.1 broadcaster and media veteran Kevin Gordon will host the program, where each ensemble will individually perform. Tune Up Philly, a program division of the PYO Music Institute will also perform at 1:45 p.m. on the Kimmel Center Plaza Stage.  Tickets range from $20 to $30 and can be purchased through Ticket Philadelphia at 215.893.1999

Bravo Brass Performs 'Brass by Popular Demand' on March 2nd in Philadelphia

The PYO Music Institute’s Bravo Bass ensemble will perform a memorable performance titled “Brass by Popular Demand” on Saturday, March 2 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Mark’s Church in Center City Philadelphia. St. Mark’s is located at 1625 Locust St, Philadelphia, PA.
