PERFORM HOLIDAY MUSIC THROUGHOUT THE REGION

The talented musicians of the PYO Music Institute organization will be performing a variety of holiday music to deck the halls and inspire concertgoers with the holiday spirit. Bravo Brass and Philadelphia Young Artists Orchestra (PYAO) will perform seasonal favorites throughout the region.

On Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 7:30 p.m., center city will come alive with the music of the talented student brass players of Bravo Brass as they perform “A Holiday in Brass”, Music of the Season for Brass in historic Saint Mark’s Church, 1625 Locust Street, Philadelphia, PA.  The program will feature several centuries of music that is still some of the favorite selections of the season. Under the direction of Paul Bryan, the concert will include works by Susato, Handel, Holst, Anderson and others. On Sunday, December 20, 2015, at 4:00 p.m., PYAO will have the unique opportunity of collaborating with Upper Darby High School’s Concert Choir and Encore Singers as they celebrate the holiday season. Conducted by PYAO music director, Maestro Rosalind Erwin, it will take place at the Upper Darby Performing Arts Center, located at 601 N. Lansdowne Avenue, Drexel Hill, PA. The program will include Handel’s Concerto Grosso Op. 6, No. 5, several carols by John Rutter, “Waltz of the Flowers” from Tchaikovsky’s cherished Nutcracker Ballet Suite, and The Christmas Song, a seasonal classic. The performance concludes with a festive holiday carol sing-a-long! Tickets are available for $10/general admission; $5/student (ages 7–17) and seniors, and can be purchased online or at the door.
