Dorothy Mackey

Teaching Artist

Dorothy received her Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from University of Dayton, in Ohio, where she studied violin, viola, and voice. Dorothy continued her postgraduate studies at Temple University, where she studied with Meichen Barnes of the Philadelphia Chamber Orchestra. She completed her Master’s Degree in String Pedagogy in 2016, when she began working for the Tune Up, Philly! branch of PYO Music Institute as a violin/viola instructor for multiple sites. She now maintains a robust studio of violin students at the KROC center site through TUP,  privately in the Philadelphia area, and through Taylor’s Music Store in West Chester. Dorothy also enjoys freelancing locally, and has stepped in with Morris String Quartet, as well as started her own duo A Terra, with fellow PYO teaching artist Julia Morelli.
